20 Voices of Women in Tech
Twenty amazing and powerful women shared their voices during the interview at Women in Tech 2023 conference in Poland. As volunteers, participants, or speakers – their role did not matter - they were guided and brought to the event by the one, common love of new technologies.
Women are all passionate about new technologies. They feel more powerful when working in tech because they feel like they can do the impossible. When asked what is so fascinating about new tech, Ania from the University of Technology in Bydgoszcz answered, “They make people’s life easy. The world becomes easier for us, and it improves our quality of living too”. AI is the next topic and again, women in tech are not afraid of it. They are eager to explore it and discover the possibilities AI brings.
When asked about the first words that come to mind when hearing “woman”, they all answered “powerful”, and “leaders”. Even though they did not know each other, they all had the same connotation in mind. Maria commented that women can do many things. Just looking at this conference we see how many various, great things they are all capable of. The same thing was mentioned by Vinitha: “Women are capable of many wonderful things. They are strong. They have more patience at work”. It is true that still in many workplaces they do not get as much credit as they should. However, an event like the Women in Tech Summit proves that women’s power is strong and will not disappear. It will only grow, and we hope it will forever.
The fifth edition was joined by eleven thousand two hundred people, including five hundred speakers. These numbers only confirm the theory that Women in Tech is the boldest event in Europe and Asia for women in STEM, Tech, and IT. – For me, the summit is personally all about letting go, trusting, and loving. Thank you all for being here, for your passion and joy. We see how important is for you to attend this conference, so it gives us even more motivation to continue. – says Joanna Lisiecka, COO & Program Director of Perspektywy Foundation.
What brings them all to the Women in Tech Summit?
The search for an internship
The event is an amazing and unique opportunity to get to know the big companies in the Tech and IT sectors. It is especially helpful for students looking to find a job opportunity outside their country. Instead of applying online they can directly talk with HR representatives and find out about the current open roles, including various internships.
We study applied computer science. It is amazing how it can help our world to be easier and better. Today, we look for internship opportunities the most. Thanks to the fair, we meet companies we have never heard of before. We’ve just talked to one that runs a website for IT-related jobs only, which is more useful than the popular portals we usually use.

It is so easy! I can scan the QR code and find the company I am interested in, and they can get to know me well too because I send my resume with just one click here. What is more, most of these companies are global, so it’s not only about working in Poland but all over the world. I love this conference; I learned a lot about AI and cybersecurity! The summit turned out very useful because I am studying digital economy and looking for a career in the tech industry.

The perspectives
It’s all about the perspectives – to grow and broaden them. The summit helps young women to find the answers sometimes online articles are not able to explain, but experienced workers are.
Until now, I’ve been a graphic designer. This year I’m graduating, and I came to the summit to find out a bit about the UI designer open positions. In the future, I want to become one. It turned out I actually found out what I was looking for, it has broadened my perspectives, really.
Julia, Poland
I listened to the keynotes and learned what skills I need, and what capabilities those women have. It inspired me and motivated me to acquire them in the future.

The need to network
During the conference, a lot has been said about the importance of networking today, especially in the world of women in tech. – We still do not network enough. We still are not used to doing it because of the long-lasting association of women being kind, polite, and silent – always excluded from the business meetings, said Natalia Perkowska, Head of Talent Acquisition at Soft Swiss. Fortunately, it is being changed thanks to events like the Women in Tech Summit.
There are so many opportunities here for networking! We attended some workshops to improve our knowledge of the topic. I work as a quality assurance specialist, so I’m in IT now, but with my friend, we saw companies specialized in other domains – it gave us another perspective.
Vinitha, Sarojini, India
I am a Java developer now, and I was the QA Analyst before. I came here because of the networking – to meet other women developers, who want to get into the industry. Everyone is very helpful, kind, and open to contact. There is no problem approaching someone, just like this.
Karolina, Poland
My goal here is to know more about what’s out there, on the market. I want to network with other women and also discover what I am capable of myself.

The need to shape the career
Being young means having plenty of ideas for the future, being indecisive, and wandering from one place to another. The Women in Tech conference in Warsaw gathers everyone in one place – mentors, business icons, developers, HR representatives, and interns – to share their knowledge and experience with all participants looking for advice and support.
We came from Ukraine, thanks to our university. The opportunity we have today, we are going to use as a ticket to explore our career path. We are looking to meet new people, have fun, and listen to more about engineering!
Tatiana, Nathaliia, Anastasiia, Ukraine
I want to be sure about switching careers. Now, I’m studying architecture, but I want to be aware of what is happening in the tech world and find out what I need to get to it.
Kundai, Zimbabwe
The voluntary service
The conference is not only the place to find out about the opportunities, but to get one as well. The event, well promoted via social media, gets the attention of students from all over the world who are willing to volunteer and build the conference together with organizers. It gives the chance to see the summit from a different angle and notice how much work needs to be done to produce an event like this. Usually, those who volunteer, are people studying majors linked to new technologies and IT. In that way, they both get work experience and a career fair overview in one.
I saw it on Instagram last year. I applied to do volunteer work. I study computer science and I’m interested in cybersecurity. I attended some panel discussions which greatly inspired and motivated me.
Aruda, China
Volunteers come from all parts of the world. In the team, there are girls from Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Taiwan, India, and Lithuania. They came to help, to look for inspiration, to visit a friend, or listen and meet a favorite speaker. What is unique is that all of them have the same chance as participants to get mentorship and talk with the experts during the summit.
I will definitely take a lot from this summit. I talked with companies and universities about my future career. I found out how I can use my current passion for new tech. These conversations gave me a clear understanding and changed a bit my thinking from two days ago. I feel like I’m ready to take the next step and I know what to do.
